Funny kids

Donavan was getting pictures together for his history notebook.  After he copied three pages of pictures of sharks, basketball and footballs I asked don't you need pictures of the family.  Donavan replied

" She said you only need pictures of things you love."

Sierra told me yesterday she was going to college before kindergarten.  I said "no, Colleen goes to College you go to Kindergarten first." Sierra said

"I go to college first then kindergarten so Gram won't died before I go to college."

50 Years

50 years ago in an ice storm Albert and Quinda married.  Maybe all the ice froze it for the long haul..
They have a lot to be proud of, not only have they stuck together they also managed to get four daughters married off and so far we are all headed for the 50th (well at least 20) mark.
I have learned that commitment and loyalty are two important keys to a successful marriage. That marriage is a ultra marathon not a sprint or even a 10 mile long event.  And the most important thing of all is  there is more than one way to peel a potato.

Club Volleyball Starts

First day of a very long season. The team and Colleen did well looking forward to a successful season.

Tired Colleen

Volleyball is hard on my girl

Sick Sierra

This is actually Sierra feeling much better.  Yesterday she literally stayed in her bed all day.  Today she has moved to the chair,  eaten two cookies, and has even spoken to us. She is not a cuddle buddy when she is sick more like a prickly catcus.

Future star - DMAN

Donavan scored over 20 points today in his bball game and they won!  Not bad for a bunch of white misfit boys.

JV bsketball 9-3

Conlan's team is doing so well.  Conlan normally gets to play at least half the game.  He is learning to control himself better everyday.  His strengths are his free throws and defense.

Judging in prayer group

I go to a moms in touch prayer group most Friday mornings.  We pray for each other kids and the issues going on with the schools.  It is like church on Sundays you always feel better about yourself when you go than if you choose to skip.  Out of 7 or 8 that go regularly that is only one or two that I consider a "good" friend.  Though we all have in common that we love our kids and a strong faith in God, most of the women I find myself thinking "REALLY" and have no desire to deal with them personally.  I am sure they feel the same about me.  I have a much more liberal thought process and I don't pretend my kids are perfect.  Which doesn't always fit what "Christian moms" are supposed to do

Though I judge and I think I do things the right way(ha), I also know that there is more than one way to do it successfully.  Maybe I will work on trying to be more understanding...but don't count on it!

Ian

Ian left Monday to go back to Colorado.  Colleen was not the only sad Beaver.  Funny, I don't see Ian has Colleen's boyfriend.  I see him more as her best friend who just fits in the flow with the family.  He is happy to play tea party with Sierra or just  talk to the  boys.
Cowboy life suits him well.  It is amazing what  hard work and fresh air can do for the soul.

Why Sierra loves basketball games

Basketball is great time to socialize with your friends.

Donavan and his best buddy NIk

Donavan's parks and rec team had their first game last night.  Their team has lots to work to do but there could be hope.

Why I love my family

Yesterday Conlan was having a it is HARD being a 14 year boy day.  Colleen came home from school and said he was upset and mad.  When we got to his basketball game, you could tell he was having stomach cramps and didn't look well.  After the game (which he played well in) he told me that a kid tried to fight him at school and he wanted to punch him but knew he had to much to lose so he walked off.  He discussed how mad he was and how one of his teachers talked to him during lunch.  When Ray got home from Colleen's swim meet he talked to him.  I told Conlan how lucky he was that he had two parents to talk to and listen to him.  When Colleen and Ian came home, Ian talked to him for awhile.  Ian got the real scoop.  GIRL TROUBLES! Colleen swooped in and did the sister/brother talk.  Donavan even did his part as being the little brother giggling quietly in his bed as he got to witness the drama.
Even though a mom never wants to see their kids upset or hurt, it is a good feeling that you have a family unit that works.  When the media/society says you don't need a dad or a house full of siblings, I know in my heart you need the whole package with a lot of faith in God.
