Volleyball tournament

Colleen had her first club volleyball tournament this weekend in Lancaster, PA. Her team is a mix of 15 year old girls from area high schools. They have only been together for a month, so we were anxious to see how they played together. Saturday they came out strong and won their first game, but then fell apart and lost the next two. On Sunday they won all three games and looked great, but they weren't playing the same caliber of teams as they did on Saturday. Monday they won their first two games, but lost a super close one for the championship. Colleen has improved greatly the last month. Her serves were going over and she was doing working hard on the net. The coaches told me they are loving how hard she works and are impressed with her progress, but expect her to work even harder and always give it 110%.

Quotes from my kids

Donavan "There is something about that, that is just wrong." on the news Conlan might have straight A's for the nine weeks.

Conlan "Did you see that mess Sierra made in our bathroom?" "I figured if I told you sooner, you would make me clean it up."

Colleen "You should consider yourself lucky to have the relationship with me that you do." Then when I was telling her that I appreciated the fact she didn't talk back, she put her hand on my arm and said "Keep that thought and you can continue once I tell you something." Needless to say I lost that train of thought:)

Baltimore Ravens

Conlan's Christmas present was tickets to the Ravens vs Bengals game. He was thrilled to be able to go to a game. He is a steadfast Raven's fan. He asked Ray and I if we could get season tickets for next year. The answer was NO! He is hoping they win the Super bowl so he can say I saw them play that year!

Thornburg basketball team

Conlan's basketball team is 6-1. Yesterday they won in triple overtime, every game but one has been down to the last minute. The best thing about the team is the great group of boys that play. They are the definition of team work. Their coach is an excellent role model. Coach Robinson stays calm while at the same time motivating them to play their best. It is experiences like this that make you realize why sports can be such a positive for kids. I can only hope this group of boys are able to stay together for the next four to five years.

When you know you got it right

Devos time

Pneumonia, stomach virus, sinus infections, and a trip to the hospital made this a Devos/Beaver time that will not be forgotten.

Double Trouble

Sierra and Nicolas are two peas in a pod, both are extremely happy and active. They love each other and it is great watching them together.
