Old Rag Mountain

Monday we went and climbed Old Rag Mountain. It is a 7.2 mile circuit hike, 2miles is scrambling and climbing up granite rock forms. The kids did great, especially D-man. He kept the pace and never once complained. The views on top is worth all the pain. Conlan who has the courage to climb up big rocks, unfortunately doesn't always have the finesse to get down in a graceful manner. He ended up with some bloody legs. I am very sore this morning, but I am very proud of the fact that I made it with out too much trouble.

Queen E's idea of Kayaking

Day on the Rappahannock

Sunday we spent the afternoon on the river. The kids are becoming pros with the kayak. They enjoyed playing in the water even though it was chilly.

DC UNITED

We went to the DC United Soccer game with Colleen's soccer team. We got off to a rocky start. Due to Ray shutting down I-95 while he was working a major accident, we had to take the long way around. It did lend us to drive downtown DC during the ROLLING THUNDER DAYS. The girls were excited about all the motorcyles.
The girls got to help roll out the flag during the pregame cermonies. The video below shows that activity. Colleen is the tallest girl(just in case you can't find her). The game was great. The boys really enjoyed the game, not to mention the girls who yelled most of the second half. Anyone who hasn't gotten to spend time with a bunch of 12 year old girls should do it at least once. It is a great lesson in social behavior!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms. I have had a pretty good day. I have been to two church services and watched 2 movies with the kids. Ray is working today. It is very cool and rainy outside so a perfect day to be cuddled up on the couch.
I mentioned I went to church twice today. Conlan was altar boy at the 8:30 mass at St.Judes and then we went and tried out the new baptist church down the street. It is a satellite church for a chuch downtown. We enjoyed it, and Colleen is going back tonight for the youth group. I felt good there and plan on going back next Sunday. I need a little more from church than I have been getting so maybe this is God's way of giving me a push.
The other new thing that is going on in our lives is the boys will be going to a new elementary school in the fall. I was asked to be part of the parent council to get the school up and running. We met with the new principal this week. He seems to be a very nice man. It is exciting to be part of starting something new. Conlan is excited about new clean bathrooms. Conlan has also been in a trailer for two years so I think he will be thrilled to get to be inside a school building. Both boys are sad to be leaving their friends but are looking forward to making new ones.

Kayaking

Ray took me to try out the kayak today. It was fun! What a great day, blue skys and 70 degrees. I will defintely do it again, maybe even get my own:)

Happy Birthday John

John is 33 years old today. I remember when he wasn't even legal. It is nice to know even John is getting older.
The boys and I had a very quiet weekend. Both of them were sick on Saturday and spent most of the day asleep. Sunday both boys felt better but Donavan was still not eating. Colleen had a swim meet all weekend. It was her first meet that I did not attend at all. Neither one of us was happy that I wasn't there. It is nice to know that she still wants me around, even though she probably wouldn't of said BOO to me if I was there. She did okay swimming took off time but didn't do as well as she wanted. Her coaches all said if she wants to have better times she is going to have to start swimming more and focus.
Her play last week went TERRIFIC! What a talented group of kids! The lead characters were eighth graders and WOW they did a wonderful job. Colleen was great being a WHO.

Water boiling in my stomach

Donavan last night said he didn't feel good. He stated " I feel like I have water boiling in my stomach." We all laughed at him and sent him on his way. At 1 this morning I was no longer laughing at his funny remarks. The lid came off that boiling pot of water. YUCK YUCK

Happy Birthday Mary Jo and Bill
