Busy Week

The Beaver kids were busy this week. It was FCA power camp. Conlan was a huddle leader for basketball and Donavan was a camper for basketball. Thankfully they were not together for group study. Brotherly love might not have been demonstrated. Conlan also had two nights of football, three nights of basketball and a night of swimming. Thanks to Colleen coaching every night Donavan got to still go to swimming practice. We also had our first swim meet. This year I am the president of the swim team. Of course everything was going great until 12 hours before the meet, but I work with a wonderful group of parents that managed to solve all issues thrown at us. Colleen was impressive with her coaching debut. I love that she keeps a smile on her face and can yes any mom to death. Speaking of Colleen, the working girl was in full mode. She got in 21 hours of life guarding and 25 hours of coaching time. She is not only tan but too tired to cause any teenage trouble. Mattie and her did manage time for a kayak trip down the rapids. Conlan had his last basketball tournament yesterday at Virginia Beach. Conlan had a hard day. The first game he got in foul trouble very early and was fouled out with about 12 minutes left in the game. The second game was much better he scored over 10 points on free throws and then another 8 on goals. The third game was at 9 at night and after Conlan's week he was done both emotionally and physically. Conlan and the another center thought they were cage fighting instead of playing basketball. After Conlan was whacked, tripped, and stomped on he fought back with a mighty push that sent the guy flying. A couple of plays later Conlan was tackled by the guy while shooting, so Conlan jumped up and shouted in the guys face to "Show me what you got". Needless to say, both boys went to the bench and stayed. My "sweetheart boy" is a fighter. Who said basketball was a non contact sport? We did make a visit to the beach in between games. Sierra is still scared of the BIG WAVES, but the rest of us enjoyed the couple of hours in the water. Sierra and I just play taxi cab and Ray plays firefighter a lot of extra days. But I can honestly say after the 2nd week of summer I haven't heard "I am bored"!

Happy Father's Day

We celebrated this morning since Ray will be at work tomorrow.  The kids gave one reason they love their daddy.
Colleen: He is always here when I need him and he listens to me
Conlan:  Even when I suck during a game he tells me how great I am and how proud he is.
Donavan: He shares his love of the outdoors with us and makes us love it too.
Sierra: Daddy is sooo big.
4 things that don't cost a thing but makes him the greatest dad.  How bless they are to have him in their lives.

Sleeping Monster

Conlan had a hard week. Swimming, football conditioning and basketball everyday took its toll. Next week he is a huddle leader for FCA camp, plus football camp in the evening and a couple of bball games. I am hoping to make him so tired he can't eat:)

First paycheck

Colleen got her first paycheck.  It was a whopping 27 dollars.  She was quite put out until she got her coaching check that was $400.  That made getting up at 7:30 every morning not seem so bad.

Going down the river

The boys went down the river.  Sierra had full intentions of going with them.  She quite upset when her daddy put her back in the car seat.

Brotherly Love

The following was discussed at breakfast this morning.
Conlan states "Donavan said I was great at every sport I try.
Donavan exclaims " You were choking me, when I said that."
  Got to love sibling rivalry!

Highschoolers

I have a junior and freshman in the house.

8th grade awards

Conlan was recognized for honor roll, National Junior honor Society, surviving math, but the best was the Sweetheart Award.  Five 8th graders were picked for always being polite, using their manners and showing respect and kindness to everyone. I love knowing others see why I love Conlan so...

5th grade graduation

Donavan is offically out of elementary school!  We were proud parents of all his awards.  Donavan's big award was for his leadership and responsibility.

Sierra's summer home

Swim practice has started and Sierra has taken up residence in the baby pool.
