Weekend Update

We were all terribly sad that the Devos family didn't come for a visit. We were looking forward to having the kids all to ourselves. But we carried on with our other activities.
Donavan had his last flag football game. They never won but you could see great improvement over the few weeks. Donavan has also been working hard (plus everyone else in the family)on his seed project. He had to find 20 different seeds and also have a picture of the plant they would turn in to. We are still working on it. It is due tomorrow!
Conlan's game was canceled b/c of the rain. Him and Ray tried to go hunting but the rain wouldn't let up long enough for them to get outside.
Colleen had a busy weekend. She went to FEARFEST, an amusement park turned into a scary place. Bless Mr. Jankovits for having to listen to 3 12 year old girls scream for 4 hours. ON Saturday night she went to a Halloween party sleep over. One of the moms made her spider legs and had her daughter be the fly that was caught up in Colleen's web. Colleen won the prize for best costume. Thank Goodness for Mrs. Pilson. She wouldn't have won with her own mother's creativity!
The best part of the weekend was we got together with the Garrison's and West Families. We all went to preschool together. It had been two years since we had all three of our families together at one time. I will hopefully have pics up b/f too long.

Back on the pool deck

Colleen swam this morning at George Mason. Colleen is trying to get 10 Junior Olympic qualifying times(also known as AG cuts) by Christmas. She has three already. The first meet in October is always a rough one, b/c they took off the whole month of August and then Colleen is also always doing another sport on top of swimming. She did a good job today. She took time off of her 200 free(10th), 500 free(7th), and 100 fly(3rd) and added about a half sec on her 100 breast(5th). Tomorrow her and Conlan are both swimming. Conlan is doing the 200IM for the first time. Ray is going to the swim dad and Donavan and I are going to church, get a Halloween costume, and play Wii Fit.

Saturday Football

Conlan's team got back on the winning track and won 18-0. Ray said he played great. He had a great hit that caused a fumble and blocked well. He is starting to really enjoy playing center.

Poor Donavan, once again the left out child. We didn't look at the time for his game correctly, so by the time his game started Ray had to take Conlan to his game. Thank God for the Robinson's who have adopted D-man. At least one family out there pays attention to him:) They lost their game 14-6. Donavan said he did a terrific job at quarterback. # 4 is his best buddy Kendrick. I couldn't even find a picture of the Donavan. Oh well...tomorrow we are having a mommy and D-man day and maybe I will get back into his good graces.

FCA Update

Last week they had an initial meeting with the FCA advisor on how they were going to start it up. Colleen got confirmation from one of the coaches that he would sponsor the group. Colleen has all the paperwork in hand to give the principal on Monday. There seems to be great interest from the kids and the principal is behind them 100%. Please pray that the ball continues to roll and that within the next month they will be able to have their first meeting. I am so proud of Colleen and the other kids that are working to make this work. It is neat to see 12 year olds excited about wanting to share their relationship with Christ.

Thank God for Friday

I enjoyed my life much more when everyday was a Saturday. I am still not in the classroom. I heard maybe Monday or Tuesday. Of course I have heard that for two weeks now. I did get to have Wednesday off. I had breakfast with Tina and then Jennie and I went and saw Nights on Rodanthe. If you need a good cry that is the movie to go see. I was an emotional mess the rest of the day. I enjoyed getting to spend the day with my buddies.
The rest of the week in review
* Donavan had a good week b/c he had only two nights he had to do something. Donavan is all about hanging out at home.
* Conlan had his first newscast. Donavan said he did a good job. Conlan said the mirco phone wasn't working right, but he thought it went okay.
* Colleen's science teacher quit or maybe was fired...hard to tell, but that has been the huge drama for the middle school gang. Her basketball team still hasn't seen a win. Frustration is starting to set in...swimming is looking better everyday.
* Ray is excited that his deer head is finished and is trying to figure out how soon we can make it to Arkansas to pick it up.

This is why I stay out of the kitchen

I was trying to make a large cookie for Colleen's science project. I forgot to take in consideration of the cookie dough spreading. What a mess. The oven will need a deep cleaning b/f it can be used with out stinking up the whole house.
Colleen must take after me in the cooking talents, b/c this morning she followed the directions and cooked her french toast sticks for 9 minutes. She didn't realize she was suppose to put them in the oven NOT THE MIRCOWAVE! Her breakfast was on fire! The kitchen is definitely a place for the boys. NO GIRLS ALLOWED!

Colleen's team is still looking for their first win!

Donavan's team is also looking to win, but they scored today!

Conlan lost a heartbreaker today 12-7. They marched down the field with less than 2 minutes left. Twice we thought we were in the in the endzone, but the referees said no. Inches baby inches!

Swim Banquet

The plaque!

Ray's little girl is growing up!

Colleen's coach Mike and two other guys on her team Jake and Michael. Michael is Colleen's best friend via text!
The banquet was nice. Gil Stovall was the guest speaker. He swam the 200 Fly in the Olympics. He talked about how many times he had lost by hundredths of seconds. He was an interesting speaker. One of the moms had a dizzy spell and Ray played paramedic boy, so he missed Colleen's big moment. Pray for Mrs. Wilkerson she has been sick for a few months. She has Lupus but yesterday was something new and scared everyone.

Updates

* I am going to be working with 4 year olds at Head Start. Lucky for me I am going to be located at our old elementary school, Lee Hill. YIPEEE, no long drives.
* Colleen's basketball team still hasn't won a game. They are improving.
* D-man's team is also still looking for their first win. The whole family got to watch him play today. He had a couple of good passes.
* Ryan got to go home last Sunday. Darlene is excited not to be driving to the hospital every day and to have her little guy home. I can't wait to see him.
* Conlan got all A's and B's on his interim report card. We were all extremely happy for him. We know he can keep it up.
* Can't have Colleen feeling neglected, she had a 100% in 5 classes, 94 in math, and a 92 in technology. Can she keep it up??? I think she can:)

Basketball player

They lost again, but they are trying.
