Kiddos

Strange ways

A neat little brewery is down the street from the Sports Complex.  Makes 6 hours of basketball much more enjoyable.

D has come a long ways

Donavan had an AAU tournament yesterday.  He got to start all three games!  Donavan got the opportunity because #1 the starting center wasn't there. #2 his AAU coach saw him at a middle school game and not only noticed how well he played but also how he continually cheered on his teammates even when they were losing.
Donavan has come along ways from being that player that only got to play the final seconds or when the score was safe .  He has been working hard and it is great the coaches are not only seeing it but are also giving him the opportunities.

Baritone

Donavan tried out for the all district band.  All District consist of 15 middle schools in three counties.  Donavan suprised us all by  getting third chair overall!  We have faith in the boy, but he didn't make the All County and he only does band BC he loves the band director....and a certain flute player.  I am glad he is seeing when he puts effort in something he normally shines.

The Trio

Donavan, Jayden and Kenderick have been together since first grade.  They started playing basketball together in second grade.  Donavan started going to a different elementary school and as they got older they played on different teams.  They have managed to stay friends and it is special to see them still together.

My Job

I started working as a para educator back in November.  80% of my day is with the moderately mentally handicapped and 20% is with the kids with severe behavior problems.  My day has little down time, I am trying to potty train one kid so I spend lots of time in the bathroom.  This so far has been very unsuccessful.  I go to PE, music, Library art and recess with a select few. They do not make it easy, since most don't have any independent skills.  I have come to love their quirks.
I normally enjoy the behavior kids because I get to spend time in the regular classroom.  These kids  are generally very bight and when things are going their way they behave.  But when their flip switches it is UGLY.
The best part is some of my best buddies work in the school, so there is a lot of laughter. Plus If I am lucky I get a glimpse of Sierra in the hall.
