Bomb Threat

Colleen and Conlan had an exciting first day of school. A bomb threat left the school on lock down from 11:30 to 2:30. Which meant for close to three hours the student body sat in the football stadium in the summer heat. Hopefully the second day will bring a more normal school day. A 17-year-old Massaponax High School student was taken into custody and will be charged with making a bomb threat, said Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office Lt. Troy Skebo. At 11:25 a.m. the sheriff's office responded to the school after a school resource officer called the communications center to report the bomb threat. The school system sent out a message several hours later stating that a student received the threat in a text message from someone who was not on the school grounds. "The school was placed on immediate lock down," Skebo said. "Following an inspection of the grounds, deputies escorted the students to a safe area on school property so that the building could be searched. Several bomb sniffing dogs responded from Spotsylvania, Stafford, Fauquier and Dulles Airport to assist with searching the school."
